Universal released a new official trailer for Get On Up, the upcoming James Brown biopic along with the first poster for the film.
Directed by Tate Taylor (The Help), the film stars Chadwick Boseman (42) as the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Boseman is joined by Nelsan Ellis, Dan Aykroyd, Viola Davis, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter and Jill Scott.
Get On Up hits theaters on August 1 and would seem like an easy candidate for Oscar chatter, especially considering Boseman showed to be a star to watch out for after 42 hit theaters last year too early in the year to make much of a mark on the Oscar trail. However, people seem to think this one looks a little too soft for Oscar… Thoughts…
