I doubt I’ll actually check out NBC’s adaptation of DC and Vertigo’s “Constantin“, but I’m still a little curious about the upcoming television series as the movie starring Keanu Reeves was a comic book adaptation I actually enjoyed even though it didn’t seem to catch on with everyone else. I like the idea of mixing religion with a variety of mythologies, made up or otherwise, and I found the title character interesting.
Here, John Constantine, a chain-smoking supernatural detective, is played by Matt Ryan (“Criminal Minds”) and he co-stars alongside Lucy Griffiths (“True Blood”), Harold Perrineau (“Lost”) and Charles Halford with the series set to premiere on Fridays this fall… I expect that means they are looking at a 9 or 10 PM airing, but that Friday timeslot might make it tough for the series to survive. Don’t people actually go out and do things other than watch TV on Friday nights?
