First ‘Calvary’ Trailer, the Latest from John Michael McDonagh

Set to premiere at Sundance is John Michael McDonagh‘s (The Guard) new film, Calvary, which reteams him with Brendan Gleeson as a priest tormented by his community. Father James is a good man intent on making the world a better place. When his life is threatened one day during confession, he finds he has to battle the dark forces closing in around him.

The film, again, is a dark comedy and along with Gleeson it co-stars Chris O’Dowd, Kelly Reilly, Aidan Gillen, Dylan Moran, Marie-Josée Croze, Isaach De Bankolé, Domhnall Gleeson and David Wilmot.

Today the first trailer for the film has arrived courtesy of The Guardian as it will hit UK theaters on April 11, 2014, though it does not yet have a US distributor. Sony Classics picked up The Guard so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same happen with this one following its Sundance premiere.

Check out the trailer below.
