The first trailer for the Weinstein’s One Chance, the upcoming drama based on Paul Potts, the British tenor who vaulted from obscurity when he won “Britain’s Got Talent”, has just arrived ahead of its upcoming Toronto premiere.
I actually caught footage of this film while I was in Cannes earlier this year and it didn’t look like anything more than a sappy sentimental film and nothing else.
David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) directs with James Corden in the starring role alongside Mackenzie Crook, Julie Walters and Colm Meaney.
One Chance does not yet have a domestic release date (it hits the UK on October and I can’t quite tell if Weinstein thinks they may have a Oscar title on their hands or just a crowd-pleaser, but I feel safe in waiting on the sidelines for early reactions on this one as opposed to trying to get ahead of the buzz.
