Is it called Grandmasters or The Grandmaster? I guess it doesn’t really matter, but whatever it’s called just below is the first domestic teaser trailer for Kar Wai Wong‘s long-gestating film centered on the life and times of the legendary IP Man (Tony Leung), mentor to Bruce Lee.
The story focuses on two kung fu masters, IP Man, and Gong Er and as their worlds collides on the night of the Japanese invasion in 1936. The plot encompasses themes of war, family, revenge, desire, love and memory. Along with Leung, the cast also includes Ziyi Zhang, Chang Chen, Xiao Shengyang and Song Hye Kyo.
The film already played the Berlin Film Festival and hit theaters in China and select territories earlier this year, but it will finally hit domestic theaters on August 23. Check out the teaser below.
