The only portion of this new Now You See Me trailer I watched was the part where Jesse Eisenberg‘s character pulls the ol’ switch-a-roo on Mark Ruffalo with the handcuffs and says, “The first rule of magic is always be the smartest guy in the room.” Ugh, what an awful line. That said, I’m still interested in seeing this one as long as the finale doesn’t go to great lengths to be so convoluted that it truly believes this group of magicians made up of Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson are truly the “smartest” people in the room… I’m not sure I can believe that, especially if they’re busy telling me how smart they are.
As for the plot, it’s something of a magicians version of the Robin Hood tale as the four I mentioned above are referred to as “The Four Horsemen”, a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists, and they are up against an elite FBI squad as they pull off a series of heists during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audiences. As you’ll see, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine get involved and I didn’t watch much of the trailer, but I think Common is in there somewhere.
Now You See Me hits theaters on May 31, check out the trailer below.
