Here it is, the trailer you’ve all been waiting for, Cloud with a Chance of Meatballs 2, the movie where food talks and you laugh.
The sequel to the 2009 film features the voicework of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Benjamin Bratt, Terry Crews, Will Forte and Kristen Schaal and picks up where the last one left off, with inventor Flint Lockwood’s genius finally being recognized as he’s invited by his idol Chester V (Forte) to join the Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind. Chester’s right-hand-gal – and one of his greatest inventions – is Barb (Schaal), a highly evolved orangutan with a human brain, who is also devious, manipulative and likes to wear lipstick.
It’s always been Flint’s dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine – which turns water into food – is still operating and is now creating mutant food beasts. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world… again!
I fully understand these films may serve as distractions for children, but the first installment was so bad I’m surprised it made the money it did, let alone is getting a sequel. But hey, not everyone is going to like everything. All I know, is come September 27, I’m not sure I’ll have a review to offer for this one.
I’ll tell you what I don’t get, however, how do you replace Mr. T with Terry Crews? I like Crews as much as the next person, but Mr. T was the only good thing about that first movie. Oh well.
