Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movies are topping Peacock’s streaming charts
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 hold the first and second spots on Peacock film charts, respectively, as of July 9, 2026, according to FlixPatrol. The other entries on the list are Strung, Jaws, Furious 7, Men in Black, Monsters vs Aliens, Shrek Forever After, The Lorax, and Fast Five. Notably, the data from Flixpatrol isn’t necessarily complete. However, it does give a broader picture.
The Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movies are animated sci-fi comedy-adventure features developed by Sony Pictures Animation. The plot of the first movie revolves around Bill Hader’s Flint Lockwood, a scientist and inventor who creates a machine that can transform water into food. However, things take an unexpected turn when the machine seemingly malfunctions and creates food storms.
In the second movie, Flint and his allies must once more save the world from the machine he created. Faris voices Samantha “Sam” Sparks, a meteorologist, in the movies, whereas Samberg lends his voice to “Baby” Brent McHale, a bully from Flint’s childhood. The voice cast also includes Neil Patrick Harris as Steve, James Caan as Tim Lockwood, and Benjamin Bratt as Manny.
The second film was a bigger hit commercially than the first one. Made on a $100 million production budget, the original made $243 million at the global box office. Meanwhile, the sequel had a budget of $78 million and grossed $274 million. However, the original fared better with the critics than the sequel. The former has an 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the latter has 71%.
Besides the movies, the franchise also includes a prequel TV show of the same name.
