Red Lights is the new film from Buried director Rodrigo Cortes and it features a stand-out cast including Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy and Elizabeth Olsen and coming out of Sundance it was one of the more buzzed about titles as people seemed to be arguing about its out-of-nowhere finale. I’d love to be able to tell you exactly what is so surprising about it, but, I did my best to stay clear of spoilers as I’m anxious to learn first hand.
That said, I can offer you the film’s synopsis, which says Red Lights centers on a pair of investigators of paranormal hoaxes, the veteran Dr. Margaret Matheson (Weaver) and her young assistant, Tom Buckley (Murphy), who study the most varied metaphysical phenomena with the aim of proving their fraudulent origins. Simon Silver (De Niro), a legendary blind psychic, reappears after an enigmatic absence of 30 years to become the greatest international challenge to both orthodox science and professional skeptics.
Tom starts to develop an intense obsession with Silver, whose magnetism becomes stronger with each new manifestation of inexplicable events. As Tom gets closer to Silver, tension mounts, and his worldview is threatened to its core.
The film is set to hit theaters on July 13 and today I have for you the brand new trailer along with four character posters from the film with the official one sheet tossed in for good measure.
