On the heels of the Savages from Oliver Stone based on Don Winslow‘s best-selling crime novel of the same name. Excitement over the teaser appeared to be quite high so I’m curious what you’ll think of the full thing.
Savages centers on two pals (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch) from Laguna Beach who share the same girlfriend (Blake Lively) and a thriving business growing and distributing the best-quality pot on the planet. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel, the girl is kidnapped and the ransom is every cent they’ve made for the last five years. They agree to pay, but hatch an alternate plan to get her back, get revenge, and then get lost.
The film co-stars John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Blake Lively, Emile Hirsch, Demian Bichir, Mia Maestro, Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro and Joel David Moore.
I named it one of my most anticipated films of 2012 and am hoping the fact Universal moved the release date from September to July 6 means they’re planning on premiering it at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and we’ll know on April 19 if that’s the case once the Cannes ilne-up is announced.
