I was going to post the eight minute trailer for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo when it began swirling around the Internet yesterday, but it was in a vertically stretch aspect ratio and as a result was just plain wrong and something that should not have had the wide-spread appeal it did. I can understand posting ugly scans of first look images, but an eight minute preview of a highly anticipated film stretched to make the characters all look like Beeker from The Muppets? Inappropriate.
That said, today I have for you the eight minute preview that first debuted back in September in the proper aspect ratio as several folks in Los Angeles are heading out to see it today. I am expecting to see it next week along with a couple of other tasty theatrical treats and I can’t wait.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hits theaters on December 21 and I’d say Columbia has done one hell of a job building up anticipation, especially with the strict embargo that’s been put in place as hints that people are enjoying it begin to trickle out.
