Despite the fact I feel like I have now seen most of the films that will be considered 2010’s Best Picture candidates there are still several that have yet to be seen. Films such as the Coen brothers’ True Grit, Love and Other Drugs, Secretariat, Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere and David O. Russell’s The Fighter, of which Apple has just released the first trailer.
The Fighter is a drama centering on boxer “Irish” Micky Ward’s (Mark Wahlberg) unlikely road to the world lightweight title. His Rocky-like rise was shepherded by half-brother Dickie (Christian Bale), a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO’d by drugs and crime. The film co-stars Amy Adams and Melissa Leo.
Paramount has currently slated the film for a December 10 release. Check out the trailer below and give your initial reactions in the comments.
