Cannes 2010: The ‘Burnt by the Sun 2’ Trailer Looks Particularly Epic

As I have been adding movies that will be screening at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in preparation for my two weeks in France I have been receiving as well as scouring the Internet on a daily basis looking for more and more trailers, images and plot synopses. Luckily, today I finally came across a solid trailer for Nikita Mikhalkov’s Burnt by the Sun 2: Exodus.

The film is set in 1941 and serves as a sequel to Mikhalkov’s 1995 Foreign Language Oscar winner, which centered on Stalin’s repression. The sequel picks up five years later and centers on the lives and destinies of General Kotov, his wife Maroussia, their daughter Nadia – as well as those of Mitia and the Sverbitski family. Unfortunately I have never seen the original and it isn’t available on Netflix so I will be going in blind, but nevertheless it is one I am looking forward to.

I have added the trailer directly below and you can get 17 stills and posters from the film right here and a much more detailed synopsis here. The film plays In Competition at the festival and screens on May 22.
