Unsung Hero Trailer Previews Lionsgate’s Newest Music Biopic

Lionsgate has released the Unsung Hero trailer for the forthcoming biographical drama about the inspirational true story of a family achieving their dreams together.

The video features Joel Smallbone from Christian pop band for King & Country, as he portrays his father David, who moved his wife and seven children from Australia to America in 1991. The film is scheduled to make its debut in theaters on April 26, 2024.

What to expect in the Unsung Hero?

“The film follows David Smallbone as he moves his family from Down Under to the States, searching for a brighter future after his successful music company collapses,” reads the synopsis. “With nothing more than their seven children, suitcases, and their love of music, David and his pregnant wife Helen set out to rebuild their lives. Helen’s faith stands against all odds and inspires her husband and children to hold onto theirs. With their own dreams on hold, David and Helen begin to realize the musical prowess in their children, who would go on to become two of the most successful acts in Inspirational Music history: five-time Grammy-winning artists for KING + COUNTRY and Rebecca St. James.”

Unsung Hero is written and directed by Joel Smallbone and Richard L. Ramsey. Besides Smallbone, the cast also includes Daisy Betts, Kirrilee Berger, Jonathan Jackson, Lucas Black, with Candace Cameron Bure, and Terry O’Quinn. It is produced by for King & Country’s Joel and Luke Smallbone, along with Joshua Walsh and Justin Tolley.
