Lessons in Chemistry Trailer: Brie Larson Becomes a Chemist & TV Host in Apple TV+ Series

Apple TV+ has finally revealed the Lessons in Chemistry trailer for its upcoming limited series adaptation of Bonnie Garmus’ novel, starring Oscar winner Brie Larson as brilliant chemist Elizabeth Zott, who inspired women through her cooking show. The drama will be available for streaming on October 13.

The video features Larson’s Elizabeth, who, despite her intelligence and scientific contributions, is getting underestimated just because she’s a woman. After losing her job from the lab, she unexpectedly becomes a famous TV host for a cooking show. She realized that she can use her platform to help other women with more than just cooking.

What to expect in Lessons in Chemistry?

“Set in the early 1950s, it follows Elizabeth Zott, whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one,” reads the synopsis. “When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes … all the while craving a return to her true love: science.”

Lessons in Chemistry is executive produced by showrunner Lee Eisenberg. The series stars Brie Larson as Elizabeth Zott, Lewis Pullman as Calvin, Aja Naomi King as Harriet Stone, Stephanie Koenig as Fran Frask, Patrick Walker as Wakely, Thomas Mann as Boryweitz, Kevin Sussman as Walter, and Beau Bridges as Wilson.

In addition to starring, Larson is also serving as an executive producer. This marks the Captain Marvel actress’ first major scripted TV project in nearly a decade after making a three-episode appearance on NBC’s Community. Apart from the upcoming adaptation, she is also set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the upcoming The Marvels movie. She will also be reprising her role as Envy Adams in Netflix’s upcoming Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime.
