Lamb: A24 Nabs U.S. Rights to Noomi Rapace’s Supernatural Drama

Ahead of its world premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, A24 has officially acquired the North American distribution rights to Valdimar Jóhannsson’s feature directorial debut titled Lamb, which is being described as a supernatural thriller drama starring Noomi Rapace. A24 is planning to release the film in theaters later this year. The acquisition also comes with the release of the first Lamb teaser which you can check out below, teasing the film’s dark and eerie tone.

Lamb centers around a childless couple in rural Iceland make an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature, in this dark and atmospheric folktale, the striking debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson.

The film is written by Jóhannsson and Icelandic author Sjón. It will be led by Noomi Rapace along with Icelandic actors Hilmir Snaer Gu∂nason and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson.

Producers of Lamb are Hrönn Kristinsdóttir, Sara Nassim, Piodor Gustafsson, Erik Rydell, Klaudia Śmieja-Rostworowska, Jan Naszewski, Chimney Sweden and Chimney Poland, in association with Rabbit Hole Prods.

Rapace’s notable film credits include The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Prometheus, Passion, Child 44, Bright, What Happened to Monday, Angel of Mine, Close, and The Secrets We Keep.
