Ed Skrein Enlists in Roland Emmerich’s WWII Epic Midway

Variety reports that actor Ed Skrein (Deadpool) will join Roland Emmerich’s epic war movie Midway. Emmerich, who helmed disaster epics like The Day After Tomorrow and the Independence Day franchise, will tell the true story of The Battle of Midway, one of the crucial moments in the Pacific Theater during WWII. The film will focus on the stories of the soldiers and aviators who were involved in the battle. It’s budget is reported to be near the $100 million dollar mark.

No details have been released about Skreins role just yet, though the actor will be joining an ensemble cast that includes Woody Harrelson (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), Luke Evans (The Alienist) and Patrick Wilson (Aquaman), who just recently joined the project himself. Production is set to begin on August 16th.

Skrein was the first actor to play Daario Naharis on HBO’s Game of Thrones, who was later replaced by Michiel Huisman. He’s certainly kept busy since then, appearing in Alita: Battle Angel from director Robert Rodriguez, as well as the Maleficent 2 with Angelina Jolie. You can see him in Moonlight director Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, which hits theaters this November.
