Announced earlier this year, Universal Pictures is moving forward with a new take on Van Helsing, setting Tom Cruise to headline the fantasy adventure. Now, Twitch reports that the studio may have found a director in Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman).
Scripted by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the Van Helsing project is said to be a total reboot of the 2004 film, which starred Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale.
If Sanders takes the job, he will potentially pass directing duties on a Snow White sequel to someone else. That could wind up being a boon for the studio in light of Sander’s highly-publicized dalliance with leading lady Kristen Stewart.
