Jim Carrey Sought for Kick-Ass 2

Though still far from a sure thing, Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures is attempting to court Jim Carrey, a self-professed fan of Matthew Vaughn’s original, for their Kick-Ass 2. He’d play the part of Colonel Stars, a military-themed superhero who founds the super-team Justice Forever.

If he signs on, Carrey will join Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Robert Emms, Yancy Butler and Morris Chestnut in the adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. comic.

The sequel will be directed by Never Back Down helmer Jeff Wadlow and will feature a script by Vaughn.

Carrey, who last appeared on the big screen in Mr. Popper’s Penguins, is slated to star opposite Steve Carell in the upcoming comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
