Dante, Garris, Rourke and More Unleash Nightmare Cinema

Nightmare Cinema: Horror titans unite for new anthology shocker

The longtime pet project of iconic producer/director Mick Garris, horror anthology Nightmare Cinema is about to be unleashed. Garris and four equally-acclaimed genre directors have teamed up with producers Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon, and their Independent Production Studio Cinelou Films, along with Scott Donley’s Good Deed Entertainment for the highly-anticipated feature, a collection of five short horrors which all share a common thread created by some of the genre’s best directors. Nightmare Cinema endeavors to provide a new generation of horror fans with their own anthology. Hearkening back to Garris’ own lamented Masters of Horror series, Garris is joined by directors Joe Dante, David Slade, Ryuhei Kitamura, and Alejandro Brugues to craft a clear, cohesive vision of deep, primordial and fantastical horror.

“I love being able to bring together visionaries of Horror cinema from all around the world with their personal perspectives about what scares you,” said Garris. “This is a project I’ve been working on for some time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Cinelou and Good Deed to share with everyone.”

At the center of this menacing menagerie is 3x Golden Globe-winner and Oscar-nominee Mickey Rourke (Angel Heart, Barfly) who will guide audiences through each of their own personal nightmares.

“The anthology format is incredibly exciting to me and has worked really well in the past. It allows us to work with not only one brilliant director, but five of them,” said Courtney Solomon.

“We’re excited about Nightmare Cinema,” said Cinelou’s Mark Canton. “When Mick Garris brought us the opportunity to collaborate with a group like this, it was easy to get behind. Horror has become an industry strength again. When you look around at recent successes of films like IT or Get Out, it’s obvious there’s a hungry audience out there that can’t be ignored.”

“This film is making it possible for fans to experience the unbridled work of five legendary horror directors all in one sitting,” said Scott Donley from Good Deed Entertainment.

Mick Garris is also producing via his Nice Guy Productions. Courtney Solomon and Mark Canton from Cinelou and 2016 Blood List Alumni Joe Russo round out the rest of the producing team. Good Deed Entertainment’s Scott Donley and Lenny Shapiro, as well as The Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones will serve as Executive Producers, along with Cinelou Films’ Scott Karol.

Synopsis: A series of down-on-their-luck individuals enter the decrepit and spine-chilling Rialto theater, only to have their deepest and darkest fears brought to life on the silver screen by The Projectionist – a mysterious, ghostly figure who holds the nightmarish futures of all who attend his screenings. By the time our patrons realize the truth, escape is no longer an option. For once the ticket is torn, their fate is sealed at Nightmare Cinema.

We’re pretty damned excited about this one. To find out more visit the official Cinelou site.
