All this week, Marvel’s The Avengers is filming on the streets of Cleveland, doubling Ohio for a major action sequence set in New York City. This morning Chris Evans made an appearance as Captain America and now, thanks to SuperHeroHype Forums posters ‘SuperSAINT’ and ‘RealIrOnMaN,’ we have our first clue as to what, exactly, the Avengers are fighting. Coming to theaters on May 4, 2012, the Joss Whedon-directed film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård and Amanda Righetti.
In addition to the otherworldly weapon, the bottom picture reveals that motion capture is being done on-set. Could the reason that we’re not seeing any of the attackers yet be that they’re completely CGI? Time will tell and we’ll have updates for you as they become available.
