Darren Lempke, the original screenwriter behind Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer, has been tasked with adapting the Dark Horse comic book miniseries Beasts of Burden, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Created by Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson, the first Beasts of Burden tale was released in 2009 and told the story of a gang of dogs and cats that team up to protect their owners from supernatural threats.
Andrew Adamson, who directed the first two “Shrek” films, will helm the CGI film. Lempke previously contributed to the same franchise, co-writing Shrek Forever After.
