Whitney Cummings’ The Female Brain Movie Sets Ensemble Cast

An ensemble cast has come together for Whitney Cummings’ The Female Brain movie

Black Bicycle Entertainment has today announced the ensemble cast for their upcoming The Female Brain movie, which marks the directorial debut of Whitney Cummings. Cummings herself will also star in the film, which she co-wrote alongside Neal Brennan, adapting the nonfiction book by neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine. Also set to star in The Female Brain movie are Golden Globe Nominee Sofia Vergara (Modern Family, Chef), James Marsden (Westworld, Shock and Awe), Lucy Punch (Bad Teacher, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger), Toby Kebbell (Ben-Hur, Warcraft), Cecily Strong (Ghostbusters, Saturday Night Live), Beanie Feldstein (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), Blake Griffin (Broad City), Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project, G.B.F.), Chris D’Elia (Undateable), and Deon Cole (Black-ish, Angie Tribeca).

First published in 2006, “The Female Brain” is officially described as follows:

Why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can’t remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? These and other questions have stumped both sexes throughout the ages.

Now, pioneering neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine, M.D., brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think, what they value, how they communicate, and who they love. While doing research as a medical student at Yale and then as a resident and faculty member at Harvard, Louann Brizendine discovered that almost all of the clinical data in existence on neurology, psychology, and neurobiology focused exclusively on males. In response to the overwhelming need for information on the female mind, Brizendine established the first clinic in the country to study and treat women’s brain function.

The Female Brain movie aims to comically detail the inner workings and complex power of brain chemistry among couples at different stages of their relationships. The project is financed by Black Bicycle Entertainment and produced by Erika Olde and Night and Day Pictures’ Michael Roiff. The film’s story follows five couples struggling through various stages of their relationships: whether it’s finding the right romantic balance; parenting; overcoming commitment issues; expressing emotion; or simply admitting to being useless around the house.
