Amblin Partners forms exclusive pact with Showtime Networks

Showtime Networks and Amblin Partners have entered into an exclusive output agreement under which qualifying Amblin Entertainment, DreamWorks Pictures and Participant Media films theatrically released through December 2021 will air across Showtime, The Movie Channel and Flix, as well as on Showtime multiplex channels and streaming services. The agreement, which extends the existing relationship between DreamWorks Pictures and Showtime Networks, allows it to exhibit high-profile Amblin Partners’ features across its premium channels on-air, on demand and over the internet. The announcement was made today by Kent Sevener, Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition, Showtime Networks Inc. and Jeff Small, Co-CEO, Amblin Partners.

The deal will include up to nine films annually produced under the Amblin Partners umbrella, up to six of which will be under the Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Pictures labels and up to three of which will be under the Participant Media label. Upcoming theatrical releases included under the existing DreamWorks deal and the new deal with Amblin are The Light Between Oceans starring Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, The Girl on the Train starring Emily Blunt and Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson.

“We are delighted to finalize our output deal with Amblin Partners, as we continue to offer DreamWorks Pictures and now Amblin and Participant theatrical films to our subscribers,” said Sevener. “Coupled with our award-winning series, specials, documentaries and sports offerings, as well as our current supply of theatrical titles, these critically-acclaimed films add incredible value to our programming slate.”

“Showtime has been a terrific partner for many years, and we are thrilled that they will continue to be a home for our pictures for years to come,” said Jeff Small, Co-CEO of Amblin Partners.

“We’re pleased to bring Participant films to the Showtime audience,” said David Linde, CEO of Participant Media. “This is our first television output deal and marks an important step as the company continues to grow through our partnership in Amblin Partners.”
