Orlando Bloom Takes Role in Anderson’s Musketeers

Roughly two weeks ago, it was reported that Paul W.S. Anderson had started getting a cast together for his The Three Musketeers 3D for Summit Entertainment, which is scheduled for a summer 2011 release. One of the names mentioned as being in talks, but not confirmed at the time, was Orlando Bloom, star of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.

Now, Variety has confirmed the casting of Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham with British comedian James Corden cast as his servant Planchet. They join the previously announced cast of Logan Lerman, Matthew McFadyen, Ray Stevenson and Luke Evans as the Musketeers, Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu, Mads Mikkelsen as Rochefort and Milla Jovovich as Lady De Winter.

No word when the production might start, but one assumes that Anderson will be doing preproduction while finishing up Resident Evil: Afterlife to start shooting in the fall. Meanwhile, Doug Liman is also planning his own 3 Musketeers movie for Warner Bros, which is also slated to shoot this fall.
