Ezra Miller Joins ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’, Michael Cera & Josh Gad Shortlisted

Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk about Kevin, Trainwreck) has joined the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a spin-off from the Harry Potter series inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook of the same name. J.K. Rowling not only wrote the book, but penned the screenplay for this adaptation which Harry Potter regular David Yates is set to direct and now the cast has grown by one.

We already know Eddie Redmayne was set to star as the titular book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander, the Wizarding World’s preeminent magizoologist. THe story will follow him on his travels, attempting to document a myriad of magical creatures, ultimately leading to his penning the Hogwarts School textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. The story begins in New York roughly seven decades before Harry Potter’s saga starts.

Miller will play Kredan, a person with magical powers who encounters Scamander when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.

Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) has already joined the cast as Tina, leaving the pivotal roles of Queenie, Tina’s younger sister, and Jacob, a rival of Scamander’s, left to be cast.

Variety reports singer-songwriter Alison Sudol is a possible candidate for Queenie while Josh Gad and Michael Cera are reportedly meeting for the role of Jacob.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to release in theaters on Nov. 18, 2016.
