New Clip for Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ Explores A Little Girl’s Memories

I’m starting to think Inside Out might indeed be the movie that puts Pixar back on my good side. Not that I matter to Pixar, but Pixar matters to me, the studio’s films helped inform and define a large chunk of my childhood. Directed by Pete Docter, the film was received very well at Cannes, which is no real surprise considering Docter directed both Up and Monsters, Inc., both of which are among my favorites of the animation studio’s films.

But that’s neither here nor there. We can all make that determination ourselves once the film hits theaters June 19, but until then we have a new clfrom the film, this one centered on Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler) as she takes us through a few of the memories floating through a little girl’s brain. You can check out the clip below.

Inside Out takes place inside the mind of Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwestern life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions: Joy, Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues, and although Joy — Riley’s main and most important emotion — tries to keep things positive, her emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.
