TriStar Pictures has chosen People magazine as the outlet to offer the first look at Meryl Streep as an aging rocker in Jonathan Demme‘s upcoming movie Ricki and the Flash.
Pictured above, Streep plays a woman who abandoned her family when she was younger to find fame and fortune as a rock star in California. Decades later, she returns home to be a mother again after her daughter (played by Streep’s real life daughter Mamie Gummer) goes through a divorce. Kevin Kline, rocker Rick Springfield, Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Audra McDonald (“Private Practice”) round out the cast.
Written by Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult), the pic is set to hit theaters on August 6 after previously being slotted for a late June release, obviously for awards reasons.
