New ‘Vacation’ Movie Adds Leslie Mann, Heads to Walley World Roots

It was announced today that production on Vacation, which will see the return of the Griswold family following several National Lampoon’s films featuring Chevy Chase as Griswold family patriarch, is now underway in Georgia.

A press release sent out by New Line tells us the film will feature Ed Helms as a grown-up Rusty Griswold who surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons (Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins) with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World. As I’m sure fans of the original films remember, this is where the Vacation films kicked off back in 1983.

The release announced both Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold. Also joining the cast are Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Age of Ultron) playing Stone Crandall, an up-and-coming anchorman and Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law and Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), who plays a river rafting guide. In addition to that, THR announced this morning that Leslie Mann will play Rusty’s sister, Audrey Griswold, who’s married to Hemsworth.

Horrible Bosses and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 scribes, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, wrote the screenplay and are making their feature directorial debut with no word on when the film will hit theaters.
