Kevin Smith Addresses ‘Batman v. Superman’ Fake Script Rumors, Reveals ‘Tusk’ Poster

I assumed neither Kevin Smith nor Warner Bros. would ever address the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the studio had then leaked that script to various movie blogs. By not addressing it it meant a shadow of doubt would be cast over any rumors regarding the film moving forward. Well, Smith has addressed those rumors, but done it in a clever enough way so as to maintain the illusion (or fact as it would appear) that a fake script still lurks on the Interwebs.

Writing on his blog Smith says, “No major studio would let a guy like me near their franchises – even if it was for a dummy script meant solely to fool the news sites.” Smith, however, does point to Twitter user SonofArrogance who is taking credit for the fake script, which does so let the doubt remain.

Next comes the recent news the Weinstein Co. passed on producing Clerks 3 with Smith telling Screen Daily, “[The Weinsteins] passed. I went in with a $6 million budget and they were like, ‘Oh no, Kevin. This is too high.’ Bob offered us distribution, but they weren’t going to finance it.”

As for whether or not it will still be made, he answered a follower on Twitter saying, “Heavens yes, just not with the Weinsteins’ money. And all involved are okay with this.”

And finally, Smith has premiered the first poster or his new film Tusk which stars Justin Long as Wallace, a journalist on a mission. He finds the story of a lifetime in Mr. Howe (Michael Parks), a worldwide adventurer with amazing tales and a curious penchant for walruses.

Check out the poster below, A24 is set to release the film later this year with the first trailer releasing online later this month following its Comic Con premiere.
