Daniel Radcliffe and Marisa Tomei have joined Judd Apatow‘s Trainwreck, most likely in cameo appearances and while Apatow took to Twitter to deny the claims saying things such as Radcliffe was “just walking his dogs”, it’s clear they’ve joined the picture in some capacity. Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer) has joined Chloe Grace Moretz in The 5th Wave for director J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed) with a script from Susannah Grant (Erin Brokovich). The film is based on Rick Yancey’s bestselling novel centered on 16-year-old Cassie (Moretz), who survives four waves of deadly attacks against the Earth’s population. On the run to save her younger brother, she meets a mysterious young man (Alex Roe) who may become her final hope. [amz asin=”0743226062″ size=”small”]Robert Redford plans to produce a film based on Peter Shelton’s book “Climb to Conquer: The Untold Story of WWII’s 10th Mountain Division Ski Troop” with Kurt Johnstad (Act of Valor, 300, 300: Rise of an Empire) in discussions to adapt the story about the U.S. Army division’s little-known victory in the mountains of Italy that had soldiers scale the treacherous rock walls of Riva Ridge and conquer a German position that was previously considered untouchable. It enabled the Allied forces to finally break the stalemate in Italy. No word on whether Redford will direct or not. [Variety]
Crazy, Stupid, Love writer/director duo Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are set to direct Taliban Shuffle based on the wartime memoir from journalist Kim Barker with Tina Fey set to play Barker. The book told of Barker’s arrival as a fish out of water in Kabul, filing stories about militants, being a woman in wartime Iraq and Pakistan, dealing with boredom interspersed with dashes of violence and the promiscuous war-correspondent culture. Robert Carlock (“30 Rock”) wrote the screenplay. [THR]
