‘The Batman’ Solo Movie Rumored for 2019

The way we report on movies now makes me wonder just how far in advance studios used to plan their movies. My release date calendar goes all the way out to the May 4, 2018 release of The Amazing Spider-Man 4, but we are well into expecting films in 2017, 2018 and now 2019 that don’t have firm release dates, but are widely expected to hit theaters. The latest of these comes from Latino Review, which suggests Ben Affleck‘s third outing as Batman after Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and an expected Justice League film in 2017, will be a standalone Batman film in Summer 2019, currently titled The Batman.

The site also suggests a probably production schedule that begins with the wrapping of Batman v. Superman at the end of 2014, beginning filming on Justice League early 2015 and once that’s finished the screenplay for The Batman will go into development while Affleck finally gets to making Live by Night, which is currently slated for an October 7, 2016 release. Once that’s completed everyone will get back together for The Batman in 2017 while all the other DC Comics adaptations are finding their way into theaters at the same time.

Obviously this is just a rumor, but it sounds like a decent enough plan to me and why wouldn’t a studio want to sketch out long term plans?
