Warner Bros. has released four new clips and 26 pictures from the upcoming Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow, which is already getting high marks from critics, though I must say, the TV spot quoting someone calling it an “instant classic” makes it sound like someone needs to take a step back and reevaluate their reviewing sensibilities.
The film finds Cruise playing Lt. Col. Bill Cage, an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped into combat. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an alpha alien down with him. But he awakens back at the beginning of the same day and is forced to fight and die again… and again – as physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop.
Directed by Doug Liman, the film co-stars Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic and Charlotte Riley and will hit theaters next week, June 6.
