First Clip from Bennett Miller’s ‘Foxcatcher’ Starring Channing Tatum and Steve Carell

Bennett Miller‘s Foxcatcher doesn’t screen at the Cannes Film Festival until Monday, but today we’re getting an early look at the highly anticipated film via the following clip below.

The film tells the gripping, true story of Olympic Wrestling Champion brothers Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) and their relationship with the eccentric John du Pont (Steve Carell), heir to the du Pont Chemical fortune that led to murder.

The film was originally going to premiere at the AFI Film Festival last year, then got bumped to an early start date this year and while most speculated it was because the awards race was just too packed, Miller tells Screen Daily (via The Playlist) says it was all about post production:

“It’s been a huge editing process. These films are not made in the normal way. I don’t work from a screenplay. They’re organised in an outline and the scenes we decide to shoot we explore in rehearsal and again on the day with the actors. It makes for a much more complicated editing process… It’s the kind of film that’s very funny until it’s not funny. The absurdity of the characters is funny.”

Following its premiere in Cannes it will likely make the rounds in the fall film festival circuit before being released on November 14. Check the clip out below.
