Whannell Directing ‘Insidious 3’, LeBron James Set for Apatow’s ‘Trainwreck’

Leigh Whannell broke into the industry with his pal James Wan, co-writing and starring in Saw as well as many of its sequels. He then wrote and co-starred in Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2 and now he’ll make his directorial debut on Insidious: Chapter 3, which is already set for a April 3, 2015 release.

Judd Apatow‘s next film is the upcoming comedy Trainwreck starring Amy Schumer and today basketball star LeBron James and rapper Method Man have joined the cast, most likely playing themselves. The film is set for a July 24, 2015 release through Universal. [The Wrap]

New Line is remaking the Goldie Hawn comedy Private Benjamin with Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) set to star as a redneck who, along with a rich city girl, get more than they bargained for when they enlist in the Marines to escape their present situations. Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”) is set to star in an adaptation of Clive Barker‘s Jacqueline Ess for first time feature director Jovanka Vuckovic. The story tells of a woman who, in her thirst for change, achieves the ability to transform people’s bodies at will. Vuckovic directed the short film “The Captured Bird” (watch it below), which was exec produced by Guillermo del Toro. [Variety]
