Another new look at Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender in the upcoming adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth has arrived. Directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown), this is the latest take on the Shakespeare classic about a ruthlessly ambitious Scottish lord who seizes the throne with the help of his scheming wife and three witches. The film co-stars Paddy Considine, David Thewlis, Sean Harris, Jack Reynor and The Great Gatsby stand-out, Elizabeth Debicki.

I’ll be particularly curious to see a trailer for this one as there isn’t much that can be spoiled when it comes to the story, leaving me curious as to how it will be presented. As I said previously, the only adaptation of Macbeth that I’ve seen is Akira Kurosawa‘s Throne of Blood and this clearly, just based on the pictures we have seen, is going for a more traditional adaptation than what Kurosawa did and we already know they are sticking with Shakespeare’s prose, which, I feel, can sometimes be more of a detriment to adaptations of his work.
I expect the film will play in the fall festivals as no U.S. date has yet been set.
