Adam Driver to Play Villain in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Adam Driver has been rumored for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII before and today it seems as if said rumor has come true as Variety reports the “Girls” and Inside Llewyn Davis co-star has landed a role in the J.J. Abrams-directed feature as the film’s main villain.

The deal is still yet to be finalized, but the trade seems confident enough Driver will sign to run the report, saying the character is said to be in the same vein as Darth Vader. Not sure if that means he’s going to be another deadbeat dad with a Jedi for a son somewhere in the galaxy considering that was Vader’s main “thing”, but okay.

The film is set for a December 18, 2015 release with a screenplay written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan. Variety reports Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving were also under consideration for the role, though there’s no word on whether they were ever offered the part or even approached.
