Amy Adams to Star in New Show The Holdout, Sparking Bidding War

Amy Adams is set to star in The Holdout, a new show from creator Graham Moore. As reported by Deadline, the project has sparked a bidding war. The series is a legal drama thriller based on the novel of the same name by the Oscar-winning Moore.

What’s Amy Adams’ new show about?

The project is described as a “legal drama–meets–murder investigation in the vein of The Night Of with a dual-timeline mystery.” Set in Los Angeles, the story follows a woman (played by Adams) who finds herself having to play multiple conflicting roles — juror, attorney, investigator, and suspect.

The narrative takes shape a decade after Maya Seale turns the corner in a very controversial verdict. A fellow juror is found dead in her hotel room, and all evidence leads in her direction. Maya has to prove her innocence by getting to the bottom of a case and figuring out what happened. The present-day murder investigation brings together the story of what happened during their deliberation. It’s told by each of the jurors, though each of those jurors has secrets they have hiding.

Adams, Stacy O’Neil, and Kate Clifford are set to executive produce via Bond Group Entertainment, alongside Yellowjackets executive producer Drew Comins‘ Creative Engine Entertainment and studio Fifth Season.

Adams’ most recent main television role was on the 2018 HBO limited series Sharp Objects. She executive produced the show, garnering two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Limited Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in the same category. Adams is also a six-time Oscar nominee, most recently receiving a nomination for the Adam McKay film Vice.
