The following clip from Nymphomaniac was made available on YouTube earlier today, but was subsequently removed, presumably due to the explicit nature considering it includes a peek at Shia LaBeouf‘s penis, some cunnilingus, scenes of sexual intercourse and cheetahs! Apparently Lars von Trier was determined to prove Ridley Scott‘s The Counselor is not the only film down with the metaphorical powers of the African cat.
Dubbed “Chapter 5: The Little Organ School”, the clip comes with the following note:
A chorale prelude by Bach: Three voices each with its own character, but in complete harmony. In other words:
POLYPHONYThe nymphomaniac is easily inspired, and acts it out.
Oh wow, how profound.
The film centers on Joe, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac recounting her erotic journey from birth to the age of 50. On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.
Joining Gainsbourg and Skarsgard are Stacy Martin as young Joe, Shia LaBeouf as Jerome, Jamie Bell as K, Mia Goth as P, Jens Albinus as S, Nicolas Bro as F, Willem Dafoe as F, Uma Thurman as Mrs. H, Udo Kier as the Waiter, Sophie Kennedy Clark as B, Connie Nielsen as Joe’s mother and Christian Slater as Joe’s father, all of which have been previewed in a series of right here if you missed them earlier.
Nymphomaniac is expected to hit Danish theaters this Christmas, expected to play Cannes next year in its uncut, explicit five-hour format and then Magnolia will presumably release it some time after that.
