‘Insidious’ and ‘Iron Man 3’ Actor Set to Lead ‘Jurassic World’

Deadline brings word that Ty Simpkins (Insidious: Chapter 2, Iron Man 3) has been cast in one of the lead roles in director Colin Trevorrow‘s Jurassic World alongside Bryce Dallas Howard. The site also reports “New Girl” and Drinking Buddies star Jake Johnson is in the mix for a role in the film, but Universal won’t confirm the casting.

There is no word on what character Simpkins will be playing just as there is no word on what the film will actually be about, although the title suggests we’re no longer talking about a film that simply takes place on an island. Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Avatar 3 scribes, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, penned the script.

Universal previously set a June 2014 release for the film, but halted production back in May. The film is currently set to be shot in 3D for a June 12, 2015 release.
