Guillermo del Toro has taken his brand of the macabre to “The Simpsons” by directing the opening sequence for “The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXIV“, which will air this Sunday, October 6 at 8 PM ET/PT on Fox and in advance the studio has released the nearly three-minute sequence in its entirety online.
The movie references are almost too many to name including del Toro’s own Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth and Blade II to showing Alfred Hitchcock in a nod to The Birds, Phantom of the Opera, Pumpkin Head, The Shining and an animated cameo by Stephen King.
