20th Century Fox has already set a March 6, 2015 release date for their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot with Chronicle director Josh Trank at the helm. Trank officially joined the project and the film landed that release date back in December 2012. Here we are, almost a year later, and nothing. No cast, only rumors. Trank hasn’t directed anything since Chronicle and the screenplay for his new film is about to get a complete rewrite.
Previously Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Michael Green (Green Lantern), T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner) and Jeremy Slater took a stab at the screenplay and now Simon Kinberg is stepping in and, according to sources at The Hollywood Reporter, he “may be overhauling the script substantially.”
Kinberg’s credits include Sherlock Holmes, X-Men: The Last Stand, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, This Means War and xXx: State of the Union. Hardly a stellar track record. Sure hope Trank hasn’t done much pre-production with the story he previously had.
