Oscar Notes: Adams for Lead in ‘American Hustle’ and Jonze’s ‘Her’ Moves to December

A few brief updates to this year’s Oscar race and I’ll begin with Amy Adams and her role in American Hustle. As many noted when word dropped that Meryl Strep would be campaigning for Best Supporting Actress, Kris Tapley over at In Contention had been listing Adams as a Best Actress contender, not supporting.

I asked Kris about it over Twitter yesterday and he confirmed that’s all he keeps hearing. As a result I updated the Actress and Supporting Actress predictions once again. Find those updates here and here.

Next bit of business, Warner Bros. has moved Spike Jonze‘s Her starring Joaquin Phoenix from November 20 to December 18. The film is set to close the New York Film Festival on October 13.

And finally, Nathaniel at The Film Experience has some Foreign Language contenders news, looking at possible selections from Israel, Romania and Hungary.
