Harrison Ford will be seen in Ender’s Game later this year and is busy doing promotion for his new thriller with Liam Hemsworth and Gary Oldman, Paranoia, and on those press rounds was asked by The Telgraph about the possibility of him returning for Indiana Jones 5 of which he seems all for:
“We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it’s perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn’t necessarily have to kick as much ass.
“To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do.”
While the likelihood of another Indy film seems, well, unlikely — at least in the near future — one film on the horizon that has just courted Ford’s talents is The Expendables 3 as revealed by Sylvester Stallone on his Twitter feed, writing, “WILLIS OUT… HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!”
So, yes, Bruce Willis has apparently decided not to return only to be replaced by Ford who joins a cast that already includes Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz with Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Steven Seagal as potential additions as well.
Why won’t Willis be returning? Well, if Stallone’s follow-up tweet is interpreted as any indication it reads, “GREEDY AND LAZY …… A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE.” I don’t want to assume, but the writing seems to be on the wall.
The third film in the Expendables franchise will be directed by Patrick Hughes for a August 15, 2014 release.
At this rate what’s to stop him from reprising his role as Han Solo in J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII?
