Today’s MPAA ratings bulletin is a little busier than some of those we’ve seen recently and even includes an R-rating for Alexander Payne‘s Nebraska which Paramount will be appealing. If I remember correctly there are a couple uses of the word “fuck” but nothing else. If I had a guess the R-rating for some language will soon be changed to a PG-13 rating for some strong language. We wait patiently…
I posted a trailer only an hour or so ago for the Vince Vaughn dramedy Delivery Man and now it has a PG-13 rating, Ryan Coogler‘s excellent Fruitvale Station starring Michael B. Jordan received a not-so-surprising R-rating and the Selena Gomez and Ethan Hawke thriller Getaway received a PG-13.
Stuart Beattie‘s graphic novel adaptation I, Frankenstein starring Aaron Eckhart will be rated PG-13 when it arrives January 2014 and August opener The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones also received a PG-13.
Beyond those titles, the one that stands out is Fox Home Entertainment’s Fright Night 2: New Blood, a sequel to the 2011 Touchstone release starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell, but the original cast is gone and Will Payne (“Mr Selfridge”) is stepping into the Charley role for director Eduardo Rodriguez (El Gringo).
Here’s the sequel’s plotline (via BD):
When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror obsessed friend “Evil” Ed and ex-girlfriend AMY in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri (Jaime Murray) is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show “Fright Night,” to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, who’s blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.
A release date has not yet been announced.
