This morning the official James Bond Facebook page posted the above image. Given the number of rumors swirling around as to who will direct James Bond 24 recently, it seemed like a post that meant a little something more than just stating the obvious, post credit text all Bond films have utilized.
While names including Christopher Nolan, Ang Lee, Tom Hooper, David Yates, Shane Black and Nicolas Winding Refn have all been tossed around as potential directors to step in for Skyfall director Sam Mendes, it was recently revealed Mendes was likely to return for the 24th installment even though he initially dismissed the idea. Well, now it seems like it’s not only Bond 24 he’s after.
Today Showbiz 411 reports Mendes will indeed return for Bond 24 and is likely to also direct Bond 25. Should this come true, it would mean Mendes would direct what will likely be the final two Bond films for star Daniel Craig.
It was originally said Bond 24 and 25 would serve as a two-part story with filming to take place back-to-back. Those rumors were later dismissed, but you can expect them to bubble back to the surface now.
Interestingly enough, this would also give fans intrigued by the recent news Christopher Nolan was in Empire, “It would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things.” What could be more “right” than stepping in for Bond 26 with a new Bond and a brand new storyline?
Nolan is currently prepping for production on Interstellar for a 2014 release. Would it be at all implausible to expect him to take over Bond in 2016 or ’17?
