This is going to sound really nit-picky and like I’m just looking for problems, but in the background of this first look at Jamie Foxx as Matt Dillon (aka Electro) in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is what appears to be that process we have seen so many villains in so many movie do. Where they create some massive wall of newspaper clippings and what not and use string/yarn and push pins to put it all together.
The only time that has ever worked for me in movies or television is when I was about ten-years-old and in A Beautiful Mind. Otherwise, it’s just a tired device we’ve seen countless times before so we don’t really get any measure of shock value out of it. All it says about the character is that he’s seen people in movies do it before… it’s sort of like how if you see a character in a film solving an equation on a mirror or window all you think of is Good Will Hunting.
Nevertheless, here is Foxx as the film’s villain, pre-Electro phase (I’m assuming), which we already got a look at earlier this week.
