Ford Reportedly Returning as Han Solo for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

I can’t quite get a bead on my feelings for the upcoming J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII. My level of interest is obviously low, but I’m wondering what kind of news I could hear that would increase my interest, but today’s rumor that Harrison Ford has agreed to return as Han Solo isn’t it. After all, we all saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull… right?

The news comes from Latino Review who seem confident in their reporting and are known for nailing casting scoops on this level, but beyond Ford’s alleged signing, they don’t know if we’re talking about a simple cameo or something more substantial.

Ford’s interest isn’t exactly new, as EW reported just last November with a source saying, “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.” The “three” being referred to there includes Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

So I have to ask, where does your excitement lie and does this news make things better or worse?

Interestingly enough, should Ford return to the role of Han Solo and return as Deckard for Ridley Scott’s planned Blade Runner 2, it would seem we are doing the ’80s all over again. After all, aren’t the ’80s considered the peak of cinema excellence? (sarcasm intended)
