Today the Academy announced the seven films under consideration for nomination in the Makeup and Hairstyling category at the 2013 Oscars and one film some may have expected to get it, but I am not the least bit surprised to see out of the running, is Cloud Atlas, but seven others did manage to make their way in.
Two films make the list, I’m sure, based primarily on the makeup for their lead characters. The first features Anthony Hopkins made up to look like the Master of Suspense in Hitchcock and second is Joseph Gordon-Levitt made up to look like a young Bruce Willis in Looper.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Men in Black III benefit from their myriad of strange creatures and Snow White and the Hunstman has its share of fantastical beings.
Two prestige pics also make the list in Lincoln and Les Miserables, and at the moment my money is on one of those two getting the top nod. I’ve released my first batch of predictions for this category right here and you can check out the full list below.
