‘Black Dyanmite 2’, Pattinson Teams with Mulligan and a ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Synopsis

1.) I’ve yet to see 2009’s blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite, but I know it has a lot of fans so I wonder, what will fans think of a sequel? Star and co-writer Michael Jai White recently spoke out about the possibility and told Crave Online, “[I]t looks like we’re getting closer to the decision of something that would be an homage to Blazing Saddles… It’s a western comedy in that spirit of Blazing Saddles, but you mix that with Buck and the Preacher.” Does that excite you? [Crave]

2.) Tom Cruise is attached to star in Our Name Is Adam with a script from T.S. Nowlin, which would mark yet another sci-fi feature for Cruise the heels of Oblivion and All You Need is Kill. Plot details are nil, but Nowlin seems to be on a bit of a hot streak as his previous script for Agent 13 currently has Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt attached with Charlize Theron attached to star. [Variety]

3.) For whatever reason, I hadn’t heard (or simply forgot) Universal was planning another Scarface remake and brought David Ayer (End of Watch) aboard to bang out a script. Apparently it wasn’t exactly what they were looking for as the studio has brought in Paul Attanasio (Quiz Show) for a rewrite. The goal, apparently, is to put a contemporary spin on the story first told in Howard Hawks‘ 1932 feature and then in Brian De Palma‘s 1983 film starring Al Pacino. [Deadline]

4.) Robert Pattinson and the rest of the Twilight cast must prepare for their post-glittery-vampire career. Looking at those involved it would seem Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are likely the only two to continue on with any kind of ease and Pattinson is now lining up a pic opposite Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me for Man on Wire director James Marsh. Written by Brad Ingelsby based on a true story about a femme fatale who with her boyfriend kidnaps and ransoms the town’s richest man. They bury him in a box and things go horribly awry. Pattinson plays the flashy supporting role of the woman’s life love, Jimmy, who isn’t involved in the crime. [Deadline]

5.) Universal has issued the official plot synopsis for Kick-Ass 2 and while I can’t believe the film is being made, I know there are those of you interested so I thought I would forward the information.

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)–reborn as The Mother F%&*^r–only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire–leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters on June 28, 2013 and is directed by Jeff Wadlow.
